Watch Your Life Bloom

Welcome to the Official Blog of Author Dr. Lily L. Ratliff Jenkins, of the inspirational Memoir, The Life of a Lily: Growing in His Strength, Blooming in His Love, and many other writings.

Thanks for coming by to sit awhile and reflecting along with me on everything biblical. On this blog, feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about the various topics I present. They all do come from the heart and are meant for us to ponder, be enlightened, laugh, cry, and ultimately give God all of the praise.

You will hopefully find resources on everything from writing tips to creating your own memoir, how to journal, becoming better Christians and how to walk in your callings, destinies, and witty inventions that we have deep inside of us but sometimes don't quite know how to tap into and walk in. But GOD! It is in his wisdom along with an open mind that we will get through this together. Amen! So I welcome you my brothers and sisters!

Cynthia Good, CEO of Little PINK Book, Offering Empowerment at the Lady of Purpose Conference

Lady of Purpose Conference promotes the advancements of women leaders while providing cutting-edge, purposeful solutions for your life and business.

Cynthia Good, CEO and Founder of Little PINK Book, Amongst a Host of Women Business Leaders Offering Inspiration and Empowerment at This Year’s Lady of Purpose Conference

Atlanta, GA, May 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Lady of Purpose Conference promotes the advancements
of women leaders while providing cutting-edge, purposeful solutions for your life and business.

Women in the twenty-first century have made tremendous progress. Many now occupy roles that
used to be dominated by males, such as heads of major organizations, running powerful business
units, high profile public figures, entertainers, professional athletes, ministers of the gospel and the
list goes on-and-on. Even though the role of a woman has changed in an ever-evolving society, the
purpose of the woman remains the same. The power of a woman is not only measured in her
ability to incubate the human race, but in her ability to be an incubator of purpose. When
a woman understands how to be an incubator of purpose, she expands her capacity for
purpose to birth life back into her style.

Thus, the Lady of Purpose Network deems to celebrate the accomplishments of women who not
only rock the world, but also birth the world. The Annual Lady of Purpose Conference is designed
to bring like-minded women in business and in ministry together under one roof to collaborate with
others who have paved the way before them.

Even Through It ALL...God Still Blessed Me!

I know it has been a minute since I've written a blog post. But I believe I have good reasons. :-) The last few months have been busy to say the least. In June of this year, my husband and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary in Miami, FL! And what a blast we had! But I also went back to school and had been in school since early part of 2011. Going back to school is no joke, but this time instead of going to a secular graduate school, I decided by the unction of God to go into seminary. I know right?! Well, I did, and finished, praise God, my Doctorate in Christian Education, from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in June of this year. Here's a pic standing outside of the school.
When God called me to the role of Pastor and Teacher, little did I know He would give me a heart for women. I can attest to you that being around a bunch of women has never been my passion, for prior to the ministry, I had always been to myself, with only 2 or 3 close friends (who live in different states) in my inner circle. And I was cool with that. :-) Nevertheless, God brought a passion and a mandate to speak to the inner workings of a women, flaws and all, and promote sisterhood on a completely new level. Well this last July I had the opportunity with a team of 9 other women to put on the first retreat sponsored by Lily Jenkins Ministries entitled, 'Women Who Love God & Each Other'. It took place right here in Atlanta, one weekend, and God showed up and showed out at the Hyatt Hotel-Perimeter Center. Here's a couple of pics from the event. Thirty-one women from 14 different states took part!
Immediately after that wonderfully blessed time, Lily Jenkins Ministries was on the move having back to back engagements in Georgia, Florida and North Carolina. I teamed up on two occasions with my husband, Apostle Donald Jenkins to speak to the voids of marriages in an effort to ignite Purpose on the inside of them through our Married on Purpose Ministry. Here is a picture during one of these engagements.
Once on one stop, in Tampa, FL, God showed us our future covering in the ministry. We are so thankful and looking forward to having Apostle Mark Jones and the Center for Manifestation Family as a resource and a vehicle to push us into the next move of God which is our new church location starting October 7, 2012 at The Pursuit of Purpose Church, 200 Hannover Park Road, Suite 100, Atlanta, GA 30350 at 10AM. Why don't you join us! In Durham, NC, I went to speak during a Women of Wisdom Conference on the subject: 'Reveal Your Glory in Me: Releasing Your Passion for My Purpose!' Here's the pic below...
And now I have come to this DAY! A day I have been waiting to see for a long time. Months turned to years of writing this new book and now it is here! My new book was released two days ago...'There's Hope for the Weary: God's Promises Through Life's Greatest Storms'. It is available in Kindle format, and Paperback at Barnes & Noble.com and Amazon.com! It is truly a 30 Day Testament to the love God has for you. Here are the various links where you can order. There's Hope for the Weary
I showed this visual depiction of this year because after all I've been through, my life as I used to know it, will never be the same. God has blessed me beyond what I ever thought it could, despite my faults, despite my past, despite my previous doubts and failures. He did it! It was nothing I could do on my own. He saw fit to use me...and for that I am grateful! In His Service,

Meet Pastor Donald & Elder Lily Jenkins!!

PRAISE GOD FOR THE GOOD THINGS HE HAS DONE!!
June 10, 2010

Now come and celebrate with us on July 10, 2010, at 5:00P.M. as we seal our union with the celebration of the rings! It will take place at the Petite Auburge Restaurant, 2935 North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta, GA. RSVP at lilyratliff@gmail.com before July 1st! Look below for more info!

Ring Celebration: A Celebration of Purpose

Marriage contains a hidden meaning of purpose that’s often not explored. Being able to capture purpose within a union is a sign of sealing the union from the influence of a negative culture. In marriage, the ring is an eternal symbol that reflects the wisdom of the Hebrew letter called Samech. The appearance of the letter Samech is circular in nature like the ring and it carries the meaning of divine support.

The message of the letter Samech declares that ‘all things rise and fall on support’. It can clearly be seen in the support that comes from a family unit. The devil knows that the easiest way to destroy communities is to remove the element of support within families. The ring celebration is a celebration of two people who are committed to building support within the family unit. It is a celebration of two people who fully understand that their union is one that reflect the culture of heaven and supported by the hand of God.

Please join us as we seal our union with divine purpose with a special celebration of our rings that signifies divine support. This is our way of commemorating our union and reclaiming the purpose of the family unit as we move forward and anticipate what God has in store for our family. The event will be held at the Petite Auberge Restaurant on July 10, 2010 at 5:00P.M. It is located in the Toco Hill Shopping Plaza at 2935 North Druid Hills Road, Atlanta, GA 30329. Cost of the meal is $25.00 per person (tax and gratuity is included). Dinner includes a salad of mixed greens, a choice of three entrees-chicken cordon bleu, beef burgundy roast, or grilled salmon, and dessert (chocolate mousse, or strawberries a la Romanoff).

"Isn't school supposed to be a safe place?"

This is a question that was posed to a colleague of mine by her 10 year old son who has frequently been the target of constant bullying and teasing at his elementary school. I wonder if students, Jaheem Herrera of Dunaire Elementary in Dekalb County (Atlanta) and Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover of Springfield, Mass. asked that same question to their parents before they took their own lives about a week apart from each other. Both hung themselves in their home after being teased and called "gay".

Both school systems have a "Anti-bullying policy". Dekalb County Public Schools Policy are as follows: "State law prohibits bullying. State law mandates a discipline hearing after the third incident of bullying with a referral to an alternative school setting upon a finding of guilt. The DeKalb School System will not tolerate bullying and other forms of harassment and, therefore, reserves the right to punish students after the first incident and upon a finding of guilt. Such punishment may include suspension, expulsion or a referral to an alternative school. Please note: Any form of elctronic bullying (cyberbullying) using school equipment, school networks, e-mail systems or committed at school is strictly prohibited."

But how much of this policy is actually being enforced at the time it needs to be? What will it take for school systems to take a stance and put into place more drastic measures that will prevent violence and constant taunting in schools. Many people constantly want to say, "It's our first amendment right to have freedom of expression." But not at the expense of pushing someone to kill themselves. Young people, especially ones at the age of these young boys, don't know how to handle their emotions and decipher what they hear into logical reasoning. They are also at the age where they don't want to snitch and get into trouble for fear of being beat up and teased, so they shut down, and internalize their emotions to the point of depression.

We are to do whatever we can as children of God to train, protect and teach our children to be Kingdom Citizens who walk in love and not violence towards others. How do we do that? With the word of God. In Proverbs 22:6 it states that we should, "Train up a child in the way that he should go, and when he gets old, he will not depart from it." Violence does nothing but begat violence. And it's time we show love to our fellow man and learn that since God is love, and we are made in the image of Him, then it is our duty to see others the way God sees them. We are unique, special, peculiar, one-of-a-kind, original....I could go on and on.

I have some tips that I have provided on my website, http://www.lilylratliff.com, that I strongly feel you should sit down and discuss with your children about. I will list them again here for reference purposes.

~~Ignore the bully and walk away. It's not being a coward; it just shows you are the better person.

~~Hold the anger. A bully loves it when you cry or get angry. Never give him/her a chance to see you lose your cool.

~~Don't get physical. Don’t stoop to the level of the bully by using force.

~~Practice confidence. Do what you can do to look and feel your best. Exercise, eat healthy meals and snacks, and be around people that lift your spirits.

~~Take charge of your life, and stand your ground. Don't be afraid to say, "No" or "Stop It!"

~~Talk about it with your parents, teachers, and true friends. Find someone you can trust and tell them what’s happening to you at school. They can help stop bullying from going any further.

~~ But more importantly, Seek God for the sake of your child. Pray over them, rebuking the devil over their situations, and trust God through it that HE will bind the strongman, and loose peace and blessings over your child's life. Repeat this declaration over your child: Great is the peace of my child (ren) for they are taught of the Lord. According to Isaiah 54:17, No weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against them in judgment shall be condemned! He (She) is the righteousness of God!

With God's help, and your support and prayers, I hope to take "An Act of Forgiveness" to as many elementary schools around Atlanta and abroad to shed some light on the effects of bullying and what we must do to stop innocent little children from taking their lives before their time. Please tell others about this post, and forward and share with others.

God Bless!

Cry out to the Lord

Many times I have told the Lord my cares, hurt and pains. It seems like my world around me is caving in. Financially it seems like I have more bills than money and can’t afford to feed my family. My dearest family member’s health is fading and need a healing touch. And even though I give my last to you Lord sacrificially, I still feel sometimes that my change won’t come soon enough. Gas is high, my husband just got laid off from his job of twenty years, and we are down to scraps in the refrigerator. Lord I need you NOW!

How many of you feel this way? We all have cried out to God in desperation at some time or another. I have been one of those that felt hopeless and depressed through trials and tragedy. But I tell you, once you tap into the power of God, and learn of Him in a mighty way, your change starts to take shape.

Recently, I’ve asked God for several things to happen in my life, personally and professionally. I did indeed feel that after all of the promoting of my book, travels to and fro various destinations, and investing into different marketing materials, I had come to a dead halt in everything financially. Personally, I had moved to Atlanta for the increase in pay as an educator, and a brand new home (Thanks to God). But then after a few months of really diving into the business as an author and writer, my business became personal as I reached into my personal funds to cover my writing expenses. Many authors have done that a time or two, expecially if they didn’t have a solid business plan, (which I’ve learned now how to do).

So I began to have more bills than money. My daughter needed things that I couldn’t always provide right away. Then she had a severe growth of fungus that occurred on her head that I thought she would not be able to fully heal from. But God! After crying out to God (many of you have been praying for her), seeking God’s face and his ever working healing power, not only was my daughter healed, but my finances started to increase. After taking Asia back and forth to the doctor and losing personal and sick time in the process, I should have had less money in my check that would have severely affected me and my bills for the month. But even with those monies docked from my pay, I still had over $500.00 more in my check this month!!! To top it off, my check next month will be even more than that! My God! Hallelujah! God knew what I needed and came through like he has always come through!

Saints, when your back is up against the wall, and you feel like all hope is gone, God shows up mightily in your life. But you have to believe and trust that He can do it!

Of course, there’s other things that I’m looking for God to do, and when He does, I will give you that praise report as well! Magnify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together!
