Watch Your Life Bloom

Welcome to the Official Blog of Author Dr. Lily L. Ratliff Jenkins, of the inspirational Memoir, The Life of a Lily: Growing in His Strength, Blooming in His Love, and many other writings.

Thanks for coming by to sit awhile and reflecting along with me on everything biblical. On this blog, feel free to share your thoughts and feelings about the various topics I present. They all do come from the heart and are meant for us to ponder, be enlightened, laugh, cry, and ultimately give God all of the praise.

You will hopefully find resources on everything from writing tips to creating your own memoir, how to journal, becoming better Christians and how to walk in your callings, destinies, and witty inventions that we have deep inside of us but sometimes don't quite know how to tap into and walk in. But GOD! It is in his wisdom along with an open mind that we will get through this together. Amen! So I welcome you my brothers and sisters!

It's Just Nice to be Nice

So then, as occasion and opportunity open up to us, let us do good [morally] to all people [not only being useful or profitable to them, but also doing what is for their spiritual good and advantage]. Be mindful to be a blessing, especially to those of the household of faith [those who belong to God's family with you, the believers].--Gal. 6:10 AMP

Many times we do things that are right but never seem to get a word of thanks. We work hard, treat people with love but still see no tangible results. However, we as believers have a charge or mandate from God to go out into the highways and byways and help those in need, be a witness for the Kingdom of God and to love as Christ Himself loves the church. We are Holy-Spirit filled believers, clothed in righteousness and set aside of His good use. So it is a must that we, as a peculiar people, still find ways to be a blessing, despite how people treat us. What are some of those ways?

1. Lend a helping hand.
2. Pray for others.
3. Give someone a hug.
4. Telephone people you haven't seen or heard from in a while to tell them you were thinking of them.
5. Run errands for people who don't have the means to do it themselves.
6. Send food or clothes not just to people you know, but also strangers.
7. Volunteer time in a shelter or orphanage.
8. Sit with the elderly in a nursing home (they would love your company).
9. Mentor a child.
10. Smile (that may be the only smile they receive).

When you take the time to do for others, God will do for you. AND you will feel good in the process.

Be Thankful for the Little Things

Phil 4:11b AMP: "For I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am."

As we go into the Holiday Season, many of us just had the chance to spend time with family and friends, eat much turkey and sweet potato pie, and for some, shop till our hearts content on the infamous "Black Friday". However, during all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays, please remember that there are others who didn't get the chance to spend time with family, may not have had turkey, and had no money to even think of and spent their time --maybe even home alone.

There are many times during this holiday season where I've thought about my past and thank God no matter what condition in life I'm in to be content with the little things. As He provides us with the little things to be a steward over, he will in turn grant us the much based on our character towards what we have, and our hearts during times when it seems like we should be complaining. But really why?

Many of us have our health and strength. If we didn't, many of us would not be able to even read this post. We have family and/or friends to support and be by our sides. And even if we didn't for one reason or another, we have our ultimate friend, Jesus Christ and His word to comfort and guide us during difficult times.

Many times when we don't have, it may seem like God doesn't hear us, but it's when we truly put our faith to action and trust and believe that God will provide, that at the last opportune moment, God comes at the knick of time. God is our provider--Jehovah Jirah!

Phil. 4:12 AMP: "I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want."

So, I stress to you today, be thankful for the little things. There's so many things that we take for granted. It's when we get down to our last (I can truly attest) that what was once a common occurrence, truly becomes a luxury that truly makes you grateful for those moments more than any other. When God's open door swings open wide, you will KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that God was the one who gave you the promise.

God bless you and Happy Holidays!

Who am I? And what embodies a person who is a citizen of the Kingdom of God?

Today, my friends, I'm going to give it to you straight. It's been a while since we've talked and a lot has been on my heart. To be real and frank with you, there are many Christians in the body of Christ that truly have no clue as to the authority they have in Christ Jesus. It’s truly important for us to know who we are in Christ Jesus—we think we know. But do we really? If we really knew we would not have to continue to go before our Heavenly Father with the same requests, with the same down-trodden look on our faces, or the same self-seeking manner. We would know who we are, and in all of our getting (when we prayed, we believed that we received it immediately)-we get understanding, and an empowerment in this thing called Confession-taking authority in Jesus Name that no matter what the devil throws at us, it wouldn’t work, because we truly have the mind of Christ and have reached a level of maturity with the things of God! AMEN!!

So who are we? That’s what we want to know! I’m going to give you a quick nugget to empower you and inspire you in this journey of ours together. Let’s first take a look at Revelations 3:8-11. This scripture was given to me back in May by a dear friend of mine and minister of the Lord, Bro. Harold Herring of the organization, “Debt-Free Army.” It was at a time in my life when I knew a change in seasons was about to take place in my life. God was and is doing a quick work in me and I had been truly seeking God and needed a confirmation on some things. In Brother Harold’s prayer time, the Lord unctioned in his spirit to call me and share a word from the Lord for my behalf, and this is the scripture the Lord led him to share.

Rev.3:8--I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name.

When you keep God’s word and guard His message despite other’s opposition to it, God makes ways for you that no one will be able to stop. Go over to Rev. 4: 1, 9-11.

1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.

2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. (Or the KISSAY in Hebrew)-that connection we have between heaven and earth. It’s like kissing the feet of Jesus or the intimacy behind the veil in the throne room of God.

8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

9 And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

In God’s Kingdom, there are established priorities before time. All other priorities must submit to those established priorities. In other words, the way we come to the father, and posture and position ourselves amidst the King, must be aligned to the Father’s will and be in the correct frame of mind (humility) to receive from him. Crown in the Hebrew is Keter. The "crown" symbolizes the spiritual power to receive and integrate into one's consciousness the pleasure or purpose of Divine revelation. "The righteous sit with their crowns on their heads and receive pleasure from the radiance of the Divine Presence."

With the crown or Keter in the Hebrew comes the position of the crown in worship. The crown on one’s head is in the shape of the Hebrew letter Kav almost looks like a horse shoe among one’s head. For example, When you stand upright with the crown on your head, you see before you vision for your future, it’s not physically present yet; it’s only a vision, a thought, a dream. You recognize it to be in the will of the Father, but it hasn’t manifested itself yet because you haven’t tapped into the source of your strength, the one that makes everything fit according to His will and purpose. But when you position yourself prostrate before the Father, you change in status to an Ambassador of God causing you to be successful in the things of God, finally actualizing your potential- it’s seen before others. Why? Because you did it in humility which is most recognized in the courts of heaven and it gives God all the glory! Read Psalms 24:7. That’s when you can lift up your head in PRAISE to our Father!

So I leave you with this, …Who are you? Let this infill your spirit as I go through these.

"You are called in Christ, you have liberty in Christ, you are a joint-heir with Christ, you are the righteousness of God in Christ, you are the chosen, you are sanctified in Christ, you are highly favored of God, you are blessed with ALL spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, you are a partaker of the inheritance of Christ, you are fearfully and wonderfully made, created in the image of God, you increase in the knowledge of God—(just declaring and decreeing some things over your life), the drink the cup of blessings, you are loaded daily with benefits, everything your hands touch prospers, you are blessed in the city and blessed in the field, you lend and never borrow, you dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, you are rooted and grounded with love, you are the head and not the tail, wealth and riches are in your house, you are healed by the stripes of Jesus, you overcome evil with good, and you tread upon serpents and scorpions and all the power of the enemy and nothing by any means shall hurt you!"

This is WHO YOU ARE!!

A Lily Among Thorns Conference & Spiritual Retreat

A Lily Among Thorns Conference & Spiritual Retreat

Conference Theme: From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Scripture Base: Song of Solomon 2:2

There is a significant truth to the age old saying which declares that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This truth was clearly displayed in the Song of Solomon 2:2 as Solomon displayed an extraordinary love for his Shulamite lover. He declared, "As a lily among thorns, so is my love among the daughters." The Lily Among Thorns Conference and Spiritual Retreat captures the essence of Elder Lily Jenkins' journey as she transformed her life from ordinary to extraordinary when she began to view her love from God as Solomon's love for his lover. It is three days of renewal designed to appreciate and minister to the body, soul, spirit of women to transform their lives from ordinary to extraordinary. Sessions of renewal and restoration is designed specifically to empower women beyond an ordinary interpretation of their life to one that is extraordinary. Spa treatments will be available for women to relieve the stress of being a woman in the 21st century. The Lily Among Thorns stage play is more than just a character rendering of Elder Lily Jenkins' journey. It is designed to empower women with character to overcome any odds and appreciate the beauty that God put within them. A conference and retreat would not be complete without a powerful impartation from God's word that speaks to the heart of women. Anointed speakers have been chosen to empower women beyond opposition to view themselves as women designed to do extraordinary things for God.

To register, for we have only 150 tickets available, go now to http://alilyamongthornsconference.eventbrite.com. You have until August 13th to pay your $75.00 deposit! After that date, payments for hotel/spa/attraction packages will only be available.

PRAISE GOD FOR THE GOOD THINGS HE HAS DONE!!
June 10, 2010

Now come and celebrate with us on July 10, 2010, at 5:00P.M. as we seal our union with the celebration of the rings! It will take place at the Petite Auburge Restaurant, 2935 North Druid Hills Road in Atlanta, GA. RSVP at lilyratliff@gmail.com before July 1st! Look below for more info!

Ring Celebration: A Celebration of Purpose

Marriage contains a hidden meaning of purpose that’s often not explored. Being able to capture purpose within a union is a sign of sealing the union from the influence of a negative culture. In marriage, the ring is an eternal symbol that reflects the wisdom of the Hebrew letter called Samech. The appearance of the letter Samech is circular in nature like the ring and it carries the meaning of divine support.

The message of the letter Samech declares that ‘all things rise and fall on support’. It can clearly be seen in the support that comes from a family unit. The devil knows that the easiest way to destroy communities is to remove the element of support within families. The ring celebration is a celebration of two people who are committed to building support within the family unit. It is a celebration of two people who fully understand that their union is one that reflect the culture of heaven and supported by the hand of God.

Please join us as we seal our union with divine purpose with a special celebration of our rings that signifies divine support. This is our way of commemorating our union and reclaiming the purpose of the family unit as we move forward and anticipate what God has in store for our family. The event will be held at the Petite Auberge Restaurant on July 10, 2010 at 5:00P.M. It is located in the Toco Hill Shopping Plaza at 2935 North Druid Hills Road, Atlanta, GA 30329. Cost of the meal is $25.00 per person (tax and gratuity is included). Dinner includes a salad of mixed greens, a choice of three entrees-chicken cordon bleu, beef burgundy roast, or grilled salmon, and dessert (chocolate mousse, or strawberries a la Romanoff).

Order of celebration:
1. Welcome
2. Opening Scriptures and Prayer
3. Ring Presentation & Statements of Purpose from couple
4. Ministers Blessings
5. Communion
6. Blessing of the woman of the home
7. Blessing the children

He's Working of Your Behalf

Today's Scripture:

“We know that God will work all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

Today's Word:
God is working behind the scenes in your life, today. No matter what you may be facing, no matter what trial you may be going through, God has a plan to turn things around in your favor. Right now, He is working out a plan for your good. Right now, He is orchestrating the right people to come across your path. He is orchestrating the right opportunities to open up to you. You may not see it in the natural, but look with your eyes of faith today.

Keep standing. Keep believing. Keep hoping. Keep following His Word. Focus on His goodness in your life, knowing that He rewards the people who seek after Him. As you meditate on the faithfulness of God and show your love for Him by following His Word, you will see His plan come to pass. You’ll experience His peace and joy. and you will live in victory all the days of your life!

A Prayer for Today:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. I trust that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. Give me Your strength and peace today and fill me with Your faith to overcome. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

The Season of Elevation

I am truly excited of this season in my life and I had to share it with you! This past weekend marked a new pinnacle of purpose in me that still has me in awe as I reflect today. When God told me I would preach and teach the gospel back in 2001, I didn't know the impact of this charge on my life until now! Everyone, on March 21, 2010, I was elevated and ordained into the position of Elder, and affirmed as an Evangelist and Teacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ, through my covering, Pastor/Prophet Nathan L. Mitchell, from Resurrection Life Kingdom Church in Richmond, VA.

What exciting time in the Lord, as the pastor imparted to us and charged us to go forth in the ministry! Lives were changed as I, Shalita Parks of Tampa, FL, Dr. Davie Wright of Washington, DC, Lady Keisha Mitchell and Nathan Phillips all were elevated as Elders and Deacon, respectively.

I praise God for seeing fit to prepare and position me in this hour and with all of that said, "It is time to go to work!"

Please welcome me as I announce to you my ministry, "A Heart of Hope Ministries International" and annual conference, "A Lily Among Thorns Conference and Spiritual Retreat" coming in October to Gatlinburg, TN. I'm so excited as I know lives will be changed, healed and delivered by bringing them to a place from the "Ordinary to the Extraordinary!" Like that conference theme? Get ready, because the next move of God is on the way!

Blessings everyone!

2010-The Year of Promise and Promotion!

Happy New Year Everyone! 2010 means many things to many people. For me, it's the year of promise and promotion! Hopefully during last year, you've set up some things. Let me explain: On your job, you should have laid some foundations, made some connections, put your best foot forward to show your colleagues that you have the skill set it takes to push your company or organization to the next level. All the while, you kept a smile on your face, didn't ruffle any feathers, but let your actions speak louder than words. You understand?

Maybe in your relationships, whether business or familiar, you've helped others along the way who were down and out, needed a place to stay, or a little extra to get them through until next pay day, or better yet, gave them advice for a major problem they were having. All the while, you continued to smile, even though deep down inside you were crying on the inside needing someone else to give you a helping hand.

But understand that in your patience and overwhelming love for someone else, God has counted all of your tears, has seen what you've put your hands to at your job, and in the community, knowing you never wanted anything in return.

Now in 2010, my friends, God is getting ready to do more than you could even ask or think! Hallelujah! You are being set up for the Promise and the Promotion. For as we know, Promotion doesn't come from man, but from the Lord (Psalms 75:6-7)! Keep on keeping on! Continue to put a smile on your face, for God is going to come through for you!

I know as I look back to 2009, I've had some down times in some areas of business, but I've had some extraordinary times in other areas. I had to decide that with all of the hats that I wear, which hat(s) could I put down and which ones do to hold on to in order to focus my efforts on things that gave me the most enjoyment, and where my gifts and talents really were. By doing that, I found myself many times with Favor from God and Man! I praise God for that because now within weeks, God is going to elevate me even further!

So get ready everyone! Change is coming and you are about to embark on an incredible journey this year that you will look back on and get excited about all over again! Happy New Year and God Bless!
